Under the influence of Cezanne, Chris started painting landscapes as a teenager.

Prior to that he was involved in and had a passion for photography. It was while experimenting in painting flowing water that his interest in abstract work began, just using colours and shapes. Painting became, for Chris, an adventure and a journey.

Chris realised that he had to have a starting point, and from then onwards, ideas would evolve out of others. He would sift through them, discarding some and following through those he considered the next logical step to take. These ideas became themes with variations until a conclusion was found, and the search for another starting point in the creative process began.

Chris had a stint of teaching for ten years, where he learned as much as his students. He encouraged his students to discover their own creativity and develop their own ideas.

His more recent work is about light in the metaphysical sense, having both spiritual and political aspects in his thoughts and aspirations. As a Buddhist, Chris has an international outlook, and hopes that his work reflects this global view, and his dreams of a more peaceful world.
